On the day of the 9/11 attack, my wife Susan and our teenage son David watched on TV as our nation came under attack. That day, David made it his life's mission to fight for our country. The next day, Susan wrote the song God Will Prevail, The Victims Anthem. Within a matter of weeks, David enlisted in a delayed entry program in the US Army, and later enlisted as Regular Army, with an MOS of an M1A Abrams tanker. In May of 2007, he was combat wounded in Iraq, and lost 13 of his comrades, to include his best friend. Meanwhile, Susan and I set out on a 15 year outreach mission to the families of the fallen. Susan wrote and recorded many tribute songs, most of them inspired by Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice; I play trumpet on several of her recordings as she sings, and plays keyboard. We traveled to 12 states, including Hawaii and D.C. (7 trips), and in 2006, we were honored to perform her 9/11 tribute song at Ground Zero for the dedication of the 9/11 Memorial Quilts, at the invitation of the 9/11 families. We never charged a fee for any of our performances. We were also National Coordinators for Bugles Across America for 11 of those years. While we no longer travel, the music is still available all free to stream or download.
